Camus House Worker’s Cottage
This former worker’s cottage adjoins a Grade B1 listed Georgian farmhouse. The building was extensively refurbished and internally remodelled to accommodate use as a short term holiday let. Conservation to the external fabric included removal of cementitious render, repair to the existing stonework and repointing in lime mortar. Historic windows were replaced with thermally efficient copies to match. Historic doorways have been replaced with large, contemporary fixed panes to maintain architectural and visual integrity. Internally, small areas of internal wall were judiciously removed to create a light-filled open plan living area on the ground floor with views across the farm towards the River Bann. A replacement timber stair and 1st floor structure has been designed to meet current regulations despite the constrained building footprint.
